D'Antoni Ready to Give Reserves More Minutes

New York Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni is willing to give his bench players more minutes on the floor following their impressive showing in the team’s 120-103 win over the Cavaliers.

The Knicks rode their second unit in the second half and the reserves propelled the team to a comeback victory. Steve Novak was lights out from the arc, and his five three-point makes helped the team greatly. As for point guard Baron Davis, he played tremendously well in his 15 minutes and gave the Knicks four points and eight assists.

Novak, Davis, Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Jared Jeffries combined for a total of 50 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.

“It has to if we’re serious about trying to do something important in the postseason,” D’Antoni said when asked if the second unit will be getting more mintues. “Everybody’s got to buy into playing less minutes and stepping up, not only offensively but defensively.”

The Knicks are slowly building a solid team and with a talented starting five, things are looking good in New York. The team needs to improve on the defensive end for it to contend in the East, but nevertheless, the Knicks will be making noise in the post-season.
