The Knicks have now lost 8 of their last 9 games, the worry meter has now hit danger status. A ‘Melo-less New York team fell to the Houston Rockets last night, 97-84. Coach D’Antoni went deep into his bench to light a fire under his team, Steve Novak, Jeremy Lin, and Renalodo Balkman all played over 10 minutes.
The Knicks are banking their hopes of offensive revival on back aching Baron Davis.Reports of Davis possibly making his first start last night or possibly this coming Tuesday against Detriot may have hit another bump in the road. He could still be as far as two weeks away from seeing the court.
Baron Davis probably will not make his Knicks debut for another week or two, according to people familiar with his rehabilitation. Davis, who is recovering from a herniated disk, is considered physically sound, but he is still working his way back into basketball shape after nine months of relative inactivity. Davis just began practicing last Monday, and he has been scrimmaging full court.
It’s totally unfair to pin the hopes of a season on one person, at full strength Davis is a fantastic player, but he will need court time to become acclimated with his team as well.
