Carmelo Anthony knows first hand what Dwight Howard is dealing with right now, the Howard trade rumors have been burning up the web waves lately. Anthony experienced these constant rumors last season with the Nuggets before he eventually forced a trade to the Knicks.
“Honestly, man, I haven’t really been keeping up with the whole Dwight Howard situation,” Melo said at Monday morning’s shootaround at the Knicks’ practice facility. “I’ve just seen he’s been playing well, they’ve been playing well. That’s all I’ve been keeping up with. ”
“As far as his situation, trust me I know mentally what he’s going through. All I can say is, ‘Keep playing the way you’re playing and keep doing what you’ve got to do for your team and whatever happens, happens at the end of the day.'”
Howard has been playing well despite the trade drama, currently he’s averaging 18.6 points per game and 14.6 rebounds per game. The closest trade that went down for Howard was with the Nets for Brook Lopez and several draft picks, that option was scratched when Lopez broke his foot and is out for 8-12 weeks. The trade deadline this season is March 15th and we’re positive the drama will continue, Howard should take Anthony’s advise and just keep playing hard.
