Mark Jackson looks for revenge against Knicks

The beloved New York bred Mark Jackson made his coaching debut on Christmas Day against the Clippers, and his young team was overpowered by the newly acquired CP3, losing 105-86. This is Jackson’s first coaching job in any paid capacity, and many NBA critics were skeptical if he was ready to step in and handle a head coaching position of a professional team. Back in May of 2008, right before former General Manager Donnie Walsh hired Mike D’Antoni to lead the Knicks ship, he gave Mark Jackson a interview for the head coaching position. Rumors swirled that Jackson didn’t “Wow” Walsh during the interview and eventually Walsh choose D’Antoni for the job. Since then Jackson was working with ESPN and ABC  as a TV correspondent and always had cordial comments regarding the Knicks organization. Jackson may not openly admit that he is seeking revenge against his hometown team that shot him down from a dream job, but deep inside he has to be eager to prove the Knicks originzation wrong for passing on him.

Wednesday night(12/28/11) he will have his shot when the Knicks start their west-coast road trip in Golden State. The Warriors looked impressive in their win against the Bulls. Jackson has vowed to change the complexion of the Warriors moving forward, defense is the motto in northern California.

Older Knicks fans remember Mark Jackson making beautiful fast-break passes while with the team in the late 80’s. Younger fans know him for his back-and-forth banter with former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy during ESPN/ABC NBA telecasts. Present day Warriors fans would like to know him as the young coach that brought success back to the Bay area.

Daily Knicks fans- do you think Donnie Walsh made the wrong decision back in ’08 by not giving Jackson the head coaching job?
