The new 66-Game NBA Schedule was released yesterday, and many fans from several teams are annoyed to say the least. Knicks nuts(including myself) were quickly dissecting the schedule; how many games are back to back backs, who will and wont be visiting MSG this season, etc.
Here is quick overview of the first 25 games.
Knicks open the season on Christmas Day vs. the Celtics and the Atlantic Division battle begins immediately. The Knicks then fly out to west coast for a three game trip including a visit to the Staples Center vs. the Lake Show. The schedule then briefly lightens with six games vs. non-playoff teams. This is where we can inject an early thermometer to this Knicks team, if they’re taking care of business vs. these caliber of *opponents.
The next four games are against playoff teams including the Grizzlies, Thunder, and Magic in six day stretch. Knicks will play a total of 11 of their first 25 games vs. playoff teams. Home and away situations are not much of issue with half of the games are on the road during this 25 game span. The closest details to watch within these games are team cohesiveness and fatigue issues.
Good: The Knicks will only have one “back to back to back” to deal with this season, Feb. 2-4 at home vs. the Bulls, in Boston and at home vs. the Nets. Playing Boston and Chicago in a three game stretch may be tough but the travel distance is the best scenario they could have asked for.
Bad: Four game in five nights road trip Jan. 24th -28th vs. the Bobcats, Cavs, Heat, and Rockets.
Which games during these first 25 are you most excited to see?
*Kings, Raptors, Bobcats twice, Wizards, and Pistons
