The league and players union began another labor meeting with federal mediator George Cohen at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 6:30 p.m. The sides met for 16 hours yesterday, and today’s session proved that the parties are ready and determined to sign a new CBA.
Today’s gathering had to be cut short due to a Board of Governors meetings, but the league and players union have decided to make their way back to the negotiating table tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
Cohen was the only member of the negotiating group that spoke to the media
Cohen: “Everyone is extremely focused….the discussions have been direct and constructive. [Plan is] to continue to help assist parties to endeavor to reach an agreement.”
For the first in this work stoppage, the league and players union will meet for three consecutive days, surely a good sign.
