Chinese Basketball Association Bans Opt-Out Clause for NBA Players

The Chinese Basketball Association  has decided to ban an opt-out clause in the contracts’ of NBA players. Thus, when the NBA lockout does end, the CBA will not allow those that arrived to their country to head back to the States.

Many NBA players including Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire were contemplating whether or not to take their talents to China, but this latest move puts them in a dilemma. Either go to China and stay there for the duration of their contract, or avoid the foreign basketball league completely.

Players have other options in Europe, but China seemed like a feasible destinations for many of the NBA’s superstars.

The Knicks’ front office now has one less signing to worry about now, it can feel pretty confident about Anthony and Stoudemire not heading to China to play basketball.
