The Knicks’ season ended in embarrassment when they were swept out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics, but one thing was evident― the nucleus was perfect, all they needed was more time.

Whenever you have Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire on your team, winning games will not be a problem. The Knicks are lacking a bit with role players to assist their stars, but a few trades and free-agent signings can fix that problem. For the first time in nearly a decade, the Knicks have emerged as a perennial playoff team.

A city’s dream of once again seeing its beloved basketball team return to basketball reality has come true, but thanks to David Stern and Billy Hunter that dream may not be seen for a while.

Now is absolutely the worst time New York City as well as the NBA could go through a work stoppage. A successful Knicks team will undoubtedly raise the worldwide interest in the game; no city and no team can reach the level of New York City and the Knicks. When the Knicks are winning games, the entire world is intrigued to see what the men in orange-and-blue can do.

With the latest news that Players Union Chief Billy Hunter believes the entire 2011-12 season will be cancelled, the image of the Knicks winning a championship is getting farther and farther. Anthony and Stoudemire need all the time they can get together, and missing a whole season will impede the process of building a relationship.

The NBA needs to fix this lockout situation fast, Knicks fans are waiting to see their new Knicks team.
