DailyKnicks.com reported earlier that Spero Dedes, play-by-play announcer for 710 ESPN Radio in Los Angeles, would be taking his talents to 1050 ESPN Radio in New York. Finally, after nearly a month long wait, Dedes was officially named the new voice of the Knicks on Thursday.
The official announcement was postponed because of reports saying Dedes was arrested for drunk driving, but Dedes’ dream finally came true yesterday. “I can remember walking into [Madison Square] Garden for my first Knicks game as a teenager and feeling the magic of the place,” Dedes told New York Post. “I’ve been in love with this franchise ever since.”
Dedes will call Knicks game on 1050 ESPN Radio and will also fill in for Mike Breen on the MSG Network when needed.
