For months now, rumors and reports have said the New York Knicks are looking to replace Coach Mike D’Antoni. D’Antoni has been criticized for his sub-par defensive schemes, and many people believe this Knicks team cannot make the next jump with D’Antoni’s game plan.
Although at this point D’Antoni is still employed by the Knicks, he may receive the pink slip once the 2011-12 season starts. Some say Phil Jackson or Jeff Van Gundy may end up on the Knicks sidelines, or even team legend Patrick Ewing. Whoever the coach may be, the front office must be certain that he or she is a defensive minded coach.
