Knicks Trying To Trade Up To Get Fredette

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, the Knicks are trying to create a deal that would consist of a draft pick above the Utah Jazz’s 12th overall selection.

The Knicks are very interested in Brigham Young University’s Jimmer Fredette, and they would like to call his name on draft day this Thursday. The Jazz are reportedly going to select the New York native with the 12th pick, so they Knicks are trying to negotiate a trade that would give them a higher selection.

The Knicks currently hold the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, but that pick will most likely be given away if a deal does indeed pass. However, the Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks are trying to get better positioning in the draft so that they can select Fredette.

Fredette was the  2010 NCAA Player of the Year and averaged 28.9 points per game in his senior year. He led BYU to a 32-5 regular season record before falling in the Sweet Sixteen to the Florida Gators.
