Knicks Make "Gruntland" Premier

Bill Simmons’ greatly anticipated–and, possibly, much ado about nothing—new web project, Grantland, made its launch today. The response has been wide ranging, with some walking away less than impressed by its opening day. Me? For what it’s worth, I enjoyed the predictable hoopla leading up to today, and had read everything the site had to offer by 4:30. The writing is, as expected, well written, and since former Times NBA guy Jonathan Abrams left his cushy job at one of the world’s most respected newspapers to climb on board, we were fortunate enough to get a Knicks related piece on the site’s very first day! How wonderful!

Here’s the lead paragraph on a nice and succinct, yet revealing, post on the type of man Donnie Walsh is. Click here for the rest.

Donnie Walsh joined the Knicks in the midst of ineptitude and scandal. He was handed the unenviable task of restoring respectability to one of the NBA’s original chartered franchises, a job he masterfully navigated until last week, when it was announced during the Finals that he would not return to his role as the team’s president of basketball operations.
