Berman: Chandler May Come Back To Knicks

This came down yesterday from the NY Post’s Marc Berman:

The Knicks would have to get lucky, but one of their targets this summer is to bring Wilson Chandler back into the fold, The Post has learned.

Chandler’s new agent is Happy Walters, who also represents Amar’e Stoudemire and Knicks surprise reserve standout Shawne Williams, also a free agent whom the Knicks would like to bring back.

The question is how to get Chandler back. A sign-and-trade with Denver is possible, since the Nuggets once liked rookie Landry Fields, who had a terrible playoffs. Fields did not feel comfortable playing with Anthony, but he thrived with the Nuggets’ Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton and Timofey Mozgov.

Berman goes onto further explain possible Knick related roster moves involving large sums of money, but in regards to that last statement about trading Landry Fields…why don’t we all just take a deep breath. I know he was booed at a recent Yankees game and played like a lost puppy wandering into rush hour traffic in the playoffs, but Landry Fields is a cheap (for now), valuable player. And it’s not like Chandler set the world on fire in Denver’s first round loss to the Thunder, so let’s take it easy here. Love Chandler, but bringing him back doesn’t make the most sense from a financial, basketball, or common sense standpoint.
