3. Latrell Sprewell
Latrell Sprewell was a dynamic and potent offensive player for the New York Knicks and he and Allan Houston formed one of the most explosive scoring duos in NBA history. Sprewell helped the Knicks reemerge as one of the best squads in the NBA during the late 1990s, and his ability to take over games was a boon for the team.
Although Sprewell only spent five seasons with the Knicks, he averaged 17.9 ppg, 3.8 apg and 4.0 rpg. Under the guidance of Sprewell, the Knicks made their way to the 1999 NBA Finals while at the same time brought excitement back to Madison Square Garden. In the 1999 Finals, Latrell Sprewell averaged 26 points per game; although the Knicks did not win the championship series, Knicks fans appreciated Sprewell’s play and leadership on the court.
