Linkin' Center: Where Toney Douglas Finds His Irish Charm

Boom Goes Toney's Dynamite

Toney Douglas came off the bench last night to log more minutes than both Chauncey Billups and Landry Fields. It was probably for the better; Douglas hit 9 three pointers, tying Latrell Sprewell’s Knicks franchise record. They seemed to keep coming, one after the other, like raindrops. And Memphis had no umbrella. Or rain coat. Or water resistant Timberlands. Late in the third quarter, when everyone in the gym knew what Douglas was planning with the ball in his hands, Memphis tried everything in their pick and roll defense. They went above, attempted traps, fell below screens, and yet nothing was a suitable response. Douglas attempted 9 threes through 3 quarters, and made 8 of them.

* Two comparisons we won’t be able to escape the rest of this season—and likely the next few years: The loot we sent to Denver and the Nets’ trade for Deron Williams.

* Highly esteemed columnist Jeff Pearlman gives his two cents on Madison Square Garden’s decision to raise ticket prices.

* Anthony Carter used to live in Hawaii. Here they check up on him in a solid feature.

* Now that James Dolan has two superstars he enjoys watching, the minimum pressure level for Mike D’Antoni will be a dark shade of orange, teetering on light red.

* We covered this a few days ago, looking ahead at the rest of the regular season. Business Insider backs up our argument.

* More Mike D’Antoni pressure cookers.

* Something tells me this unit needs more than training camp to play effective defense…or they could just mimic Miami.
