Site5 and FanSided Holiday Season Charity Drive

To kick off the Holiday season, the FanSided network has partnered up with Site5 (our terrific hosting company) on a seasonal charity drive to raise money for a great cause — the Boys and Girls Club of America. What better cause than a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children, especially one that uses a heavy dosage of sports to reach those kids. This Holiday season, we here at the FanSided family are thankful for our growing network, our great hosting company (Site5) and, most of all, how fortunate we are. That’s why our family is giving back and asking you and your family to help us do so. Our goal is $5,000, and every bit  helps — even a donation of $5 or $10 (FanSided and Site5 have done the first 10%).

Here are some things I’m thankful for in the world o’ Knicks (feel free to add your own thankful bits in the comments section below):

-Raymond Felton is finally getting Amar’e Stoudemire a few easy gimme buckets each game.

-Amar’e’s playing smarter, not doing dumb drives into completely set defenses.

-Ronny Turiaf’s beard, enthusiasm and blocks.  But not necessarily in that order.

-Landry Fields, as a second-round rookie who no one thought would stick in the NBA, playing more savvy and vet-like than 97.2% of the rest of the league.

-Wilson Chandler suddenly blocking over two shots a game after never having even gotten near one before.  Did someone send him a memo that he’s now allowed to play D?

-Gallinari’s sweet shot.  When it’s sweet.

-Gallinari’s persistence in driving.  When his sweet shot isn’t sweet.

-For Mike D’Antoni mostly keeping Roger Mason, Anthony Randolph and Timofey Mozgov glued to the bench.  Watching them on the court sometimes makes my eyes burn.

-A winning record this late in the season for the first time since 2005.

-The NBA schedulers, who gave us an easy opening so we can build up some confidence and cohesion before we hit the Batch O’ Big Boys we got coming up from mid-December to mid-January (and on?).

-That we don’t crumble during the upcoming stretch (is it cheating to be thankful for that which hasn’t happened yet?  Did I just jinx the heck out of the team by doing this?).

-Walt “Clyde” Frazier, cooly announcing our games with a lexicon that astounds and confounds (because he often mispronounces words and, well, sorta misuses ‘em too).

-And for NBA commissioner David Stern.  Sure, he may help bring about a shutdown of the league next season, but all I care about right now is that he nixed the return of Isiah Thomas to the Knicks’ front office.  Ain’t nuthin’ that gives me more hope than that.  Well, maybe if James Dolan sold the team to a smart man…
