Knicks Win... On The Road... To A Probable Playoff Team!

Our team had trouble stopping Derrick Rose, but overall it was the Bulls who couldn't stop the Knicks. (Source:

The Knicks defeated the Bulls last night, and two potential Bucket writers had things to say about it.  Show them some love.  This post is written by Stanley Chin:

Take that Chicago…

Ok, I admit I’d have liked to say that back when Jordan and Pippen were playing more often… but I’ll take the W thank you very much.

There was a lot to like about this game and a lot to be concerned about.

Lets start with the positives…

-A win… on the road.. to a probable playoff team… That’s HUGE many people picked the Bulls to be a mid-seed but I think if the Knicks play to potential they will be better than the Bulls (and yes I know this was without Boozer but the Bulls have too many streaky players at the traditional scoring positions especially shooting guard).
-Gallinari breaking out of the early shooting slump. You had to know it was going to happen sooner rather than later and we needed him tonight. When Gallinari is making shots its like the Knicks are a different team offensively.
-3 pointers dropping (16-24 – 66.7%) like it was the Bomb Squad from the late 80’s (yeah I’ve been watching the Knicks since the 70’s).
-Another 6 blocks and 12 steals (Knicks are first and third in those categories respectively).  And, while these are not exactly indicators of overall defense, I love the turnovers. We still gave up over 100, we only won by 8 despite 16 3-pointers. But still ITS A ROAD WIN AGAINST A PLAYOFF TEAM
-Return of Randolph.. even if was only for 3 minutes
-Turiaf looking tough on the boards (9)
-Felton with a double double

Basically a great game for everyone except for one… we’ll get to that later.

Did I mention a win… on the road… to a probable playoff team…?

On to the negatives…

-Derrick Rose lit us up. We have to defend better against point guards… if Rondo and Rose (and Wall tonight) are going to consistently light us up, it’s not going to be pretty.
-Stoudemire leads the league in turnovers per game. This is not me bashing STAT, this is me saying that you have to get the ball to him where he can finish, not have to do a lot of ball handling. Overall he had a bad game and that’s going to happen now and then so I won’t mention 5-21 shooting and fouling out.. oh wait I just did. Still as I said.. people have bad game and we won despite that.
-Closing the door. Knicks have a long way to go.  We let the Blazers have one in the home opener but overall we played well. Have to remember that we need to learn how to close out games. It’s been a while since we’ve been in this position, so again I am not going to bash the effort, but we did let the Bulls close to single digits a couple of times.

Overall a great game for the Knicks. Bring on the Wizards.

By the way did I mention…a win… on the road… to a probable playoff team?
