Wizards, Rockets, and Knicks discussing 3 Way Deal

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Knicks are in discussions of acquiring Tracy McGrady from the Rockets, and would send Al Harrington to Washington. This trade would also send Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to Houston.

Looking at that trade, every team gets what they’ve wanted for some time. Walsh has been interested in T-Mac for a long time and went and watched T-Mac earlier this week. McGrady would be a huge upgrade on the offensive end for us, and would probably re-sign here next offseason for a decent price.

The Rockets get a great combo player in Butler who would be great with Brooks and Ariza. Haywood would also add much needed frontcourt depth with Yao being done. The Rockets would get back into playoff contention and could be dangerous come playofftime.

The Wizards would relieve salary and start the process of blowing up their current core. This is a must, but if Harrington goes to Washington that would mean Jamison would have to be moved because of how similar their games are. If this trade goes down, expect Jamison to go to Cleveland.

As you can see, this would be huge for us and the Rockets. I’d also like to point out that Walsh really wants to add a PG before the deadline and the best available is a guy Walsh really has been after for sometime, D.J. Augustin. Adding Augustin and McGrady would be critical for this offseason. The magnitude wouldn’t be felt right away, but if Walsh can snag these two before the deadline he’ll have my full support once again.
